Day 1Tour to Sacred Valley of the Incas

We will begin our Sacred Valley tour with an early morning departure from Cusco. The journey will offer stunning views of the Andean mountains as we head towards Chinchero. Along the way, we will pass through small Andean villages, providing glimpses into local life.

Chinchero: History and Textiles

Our first stop will be Chinchero, located at 3,762 meters (12,343 feet) above sea level. This charming Andean village boasts a colorful artisan market and a colonial church built atop an Inca site.

We will explore the remnants of ancient terraces and learn about the significance of agriculture during Inca times. Local artisans will demonstrate traditional weaving techniques, showcasing vibrant textiles made from alpaca wool.

Maras: The Salt Mines

Next, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, situated at 3,380 meters (11,090 feet) above sea level. Thousands of small salt pools cascade along the mountainside, creating a surreal landscape. We will learn about the ancient method of extracting salt, which remains unchanged for centuries. You will marvel at the vibrant contrast of white salt against the red earth.

Moray: Agricultural Innovation

Continuing our journey, we will reach Moray, an archaeological site known for its circular terraces. These terraces, located at 3,500 meters (11,482 feet), showcase the advanced agricultural engineering of the Incas. Lunch in Urubamba

We will stop in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, for a delicious buffet lunch. At an altitude of 2,871 meters (9,419 feet), this charming town offers a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by majestic mountains. This break will provide time to recharge before the next leg of our adventure.

Ollantaytambo: The Living Inca Town

In the afternoon, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, located at 2,792 meters (9,160 feet) above sea level. This vibrant town is a living example of Inca trail planning, with original streets and water channels.

Evening Return to Cusco
