We will meet early in Cusco and begin our journey to Rainbow Mountain. Our tour guide will welcome us and explain the day’s plans. The drive to the starting point in Cusipata will take about 3 hours (100 kilometers or 62 miles). Along the way, we will enjoy scenic views of the Andes and local villages.

We will stop for breakfast at a local restaurant in Cusipata. This break will help prepare us for the trek to Rainbow Mountain. From Cusipata, we will travel another 1 hour to the trailhead, where our hike begins. We will start our trek to Rainbow Mountain, crossing a vast plateau.

The trek will take approximately 2 to 3 hours. We will ascend to a maximum altitude of 5,200 meters (17,060 feet), at the top of Rainbow Mountain. Along the way, we may see llamas and alpacas grazing in the fields. The stunning landscapes and views of the Ausangate Mountain range will be unforgettable.

At the top of the mountain, we will take time to enjoy the breathtaking views. Rainbow Mountain’s vibrant colors are due to mineral deposits over centuries. We will capture photos and appreciate the unique natural beauty. Afterward, we will begin our descent, returning to the starting point.

We will travel back to Cusipata for lunch before heading to Cusco. The drive back will take around 3 hours. We will return to Cusco in the late afternoon, marking the end of the day trip.
