Our adventure will begin with a city tour of Cusco, where we will uncover its colonial charm and deep Incan heritage. The journey will take us to the Sacred Valley, a lush region surrounded by towering mountains and fertile lands. We will prepare for our visit to Machu Picchu. An early morning train will take us to the Lost City of the Incas, where we will explore its mysterious ruins and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views.
The adventure will continue with a scenic trek to Laguna Humantay, a dazzling turquoise lake framed by snow-capped peaks. Our final challenge will lead us to Rainbow Mountain, where vibrant mineral layers create a surreal landscape. As we return to Cusco, we will cherish the memories of ancient wonders and breathtaking scenery that define this extraordinary five-day journey.
Cusco Hotel
4:30 AM
We will arrive in Cusco, a city rich in Inca history. After you land, we will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Take some time to acclimate to the altitude of 3,399 meters (11,152 feet).
In the afternoon, we will start the Cusco city tour. First, we will visit Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun. This ancient site blends Inca and colonial architecture. Then, we will head to Sacsayhuaman, a massive fortress with impressive megalithic walls.
From here, we will enjoy panoramic views of Cusco. Next, we will visit Quenko, an archaeological site once used for ceremonies. We will also stop at Puca Pucara, an Inca military site. Our final stop will be Tambo Machay, an ancient water worship site.
On Day 2, we will take the scenic train to Aguas Calientes. The train journey offers incredible views of the Sacred Valley. Once we arrive, we will board a bus to Machu Picchu, one of the world’s seven wonders.
At Machu Picchu, we will explore the ancient ruins. We will visit the Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, and Inca Bridge. Our guide will explain the historical significance of each site. You will have time to marvel at the views and take photos.
Afterward, we will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch. In the afternoon, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where a transfer will bring us back to Cusco.
We will begin our day early, around 4:30 AM, to head to Mollepata. From there, we will drive to Soraypampa, the starting point for our hike. After breakfast, we will begin the 7 km (4.3 miles) hike to Laguna Humantay.
The trail takes us through stunning mountain scenery, with views of the snow-capped Humantay Mountain. We will reach the turquoise lagoon, nestled at an altitude of 4,200 m (13,780 ft). You will have time to relax by the lake, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Afterward, we will return to Soraypampa for lunch. We will then drive back to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.
Day 3 Statistics:
On Day 4, we will depart early, around 4:30 AM, for Cusipata. After a quick breakfast, we will drive for about 40 minutes to the trailhead. The hike to Vinicunca, or Rainbow Mountain, will take about 2 hours.
The trail leads us through the Andes, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. We will reach the summit at 5,020 m.s.n. m, where we can marvel at the rainbow-colored hills.
You will have time to explore and take photos of this stunning tourist attraction. Afterward, we will return to Cusipata for lunch and then drive back to Cusco in the afternoon.
On the final day of our 5 days in Cusco, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure. On your flight you will have time to think about amazing places you have visited in Cusco.
